A city-wide meeting is being organized to update neighborhood leaders on the activities and directions of a number of neighborhood services, coalitions and groups. There are twenty or so neighborhood people behind this effort, with Joan Daniels and Laura Gail Lunsford, of Jefferson Park neighborhood, heading up the planning group. This group secured one of PRO Neighborhoods' final grants to support the effort, which will probably involve a variety of follow-on efforts. You are invited to attend.
Urban Neighborhood Symposium

Meeting time: 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

This free Neighborhood Symposium is for all neighborhood leaders who would like to learn new ideas and strategies for making their neighborhood organizations more successful. Come join us and learn from such great groups as Ward 3 Alliance, the Broadway Coalition, the Neighborhood Infill Coalition, and the Neighborhood Support Network. Hear how several neighborhoods have addressed important quality-of-life issues, and learn from their experiences.
There are a limited number of spaces for this first symposium. You are receiving this invitation as a past or present neighborhood leader who has good connections with the residents of your area. We need a rep or two from every neighborhood!
More information is available in this FLYER, which will be updated as plans evolve.
PRO Neighborhoods Grant Obligations: Create a system of communication and learning which will strengthen participating neighborhood associations, educate new leadership, provide a model for future symposiums and establish peer coaching. Deliverables: make available the following: leadership contacts using both e-mail and postal mail, support functioning websites for both neighborhoods and other relevant groups, and set a follow-up symposium.
